Our Thoughts on Shipment Protection Services for Small E-Commerce Businesses

Lost packages are a headache for EVERYONE! There is the recipient who feels like they should get what they paid for. And then there is the shipper, who feels like they did their part. And in the middle….well, none of the shipping carriers take much accountability when something goes wrong.
A new solution to this problem has arrived and it is growing in popularity with both e-commerce providers and customers. It is also growing in popularity with Key Fulfillment Solutions.
Several companies now integrate with Shopify and it works simply. The customer pays a small fee when they place their order to purchase shipping insurance. If their package gets lost or stolen, they receive either a refund or a replacement. The benefits to small e-commerce businesses aren’t just lost headaches, though. They are also financial. Most of these companies give a portion of the proceeds back to the e-commerce company.
I have to admit that I was skeptical about this at first. I feared that customers would complain about the cost or just skip purchasing it but we have now been working with customers that are using this type of shipment protection for more than a year and we have found it to be very popular amongst both buyers and sellers.
While we aren’t going to recommend any specific app, we would recommend that every small e-commerce business look into the shipping protection options available to add to their Shopify account.
