Spring has sprung and what better time to do a bit of spring cleaning with your inventory? Managing eCommerce order fulfillment can be tricky. As time goes by old inventory can pile and old products can jumble up Shopify.
If your inventory needs some spring cleaning or cleaning any other time of year, we have the checklist for you:
Donate, recycle, or toss anything that is expired, damaged, out of date, or unneeded.
Ensure that all of your inventory is stored in quality bins so that it doesn’t get damaged. While you are at it, if the inventory is slow-moving moving be sure it is covered so it doesn’t collect dust.
Cycle count your inventory. This sounds simple, but for many Shopify order fulfillment companies, it can be tricky. Check out our Instagram page this week for all our top cycle counting tips!
While you are cycle counting be sure that all of your physical items are actually set up in Shopify or your inventory management system. We have seen inventory sit for years because it was never set up and made available for sale.
Mark old products as inactive in Shopify or your inventory management system.
Review your product names and descriptions in Shopify and make any corrections and updates.
Update your reorder points to reflect current sales and future projections. By the way, did you know that there is a simple calculation to determine the reorder point? You can also find that on our Instagram page in the coming days.
If you are tired of managing your inventory; not to mention the day-to-day pick, pack, and ship routine, we are here for you. We specialize in supporting small eCommerce businesses and would love to learn more about how we can help you!
